Health Information Technology, A.S.

The Health Information Technology, A.S. degree prepares students to enter the rewarding field of health care as health information technicians or medical record technicians in a variety of health care settings. This degree can also provide supplemental training for persons previously or currently employed in these occupations.

The Associate Degree Health Information Management Program is in Candidacy Status, pending accreditation review by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM).

Program Overview & Requirements

Program Purpose:
To prepare students for employment as health information technicians or medical record technicians in a variety of healthcare settings or to provide supplemental training for persons previously or currently employed in these occupations.

Program Length:
70 credit hours

Admission Requirements:

  • Admission requirements are the same as those for admission to the College: standard high school diploma or GED diploma. Most program courses require students to be college-ready, which means the student must have appropriate placement scores, complete any needed developmental education or meet the requirements for a documented exemption.
  • Satisfactory completion of program prerequisite courses
